PreK & K and Grade 1 & 2 leagues run for 1 hour each week on either Saturday or Sunday. Emphasis is on instruction and teaching the kids how to play the game, work together, and build confidence. The season will begin in the beginning of December, with skill clinics. Specific dates and times for the clinics will be sent out in November.

House league teams typically play one game each week and practice once a week at another time to be determined. This is a competitive league setting with an emphasis placed on skill development, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Games will begin during the first week of December, and seasons will conclude just before February break (weather permitting). Information will be sent out during the first week of November regarding when practices will begin. 

The LYA plans to sponsor travel teams in each of the following 6 divisions.

Grade 7-8 Girls

Grade 7-8 Boys

Grade 5-6 Girls

Grade 5-6 Boys

Grade 3-4 Girls

Grade 3-4 Boys

Travel teams require a far greater commitment than house league typically with 2 practices each week and games/tournaments on the weekends in addition to house league commitments. It is also a more competitive setting and there may be cuts for each team. Priority will be given to children from Lee or who attend LES, St. Mary's or Farmington River Elementary if cuts are made. Players must play in the house league to be eligible to play travel. If you are interested in having your child play on a travel team, please indicate that on your registration in the space provided. There will be an additional travel fee of $125 for grades 5-8 and $100 for grades 3-4. Travel team try-outs and practices may begin as soon as November 1st.

Any middle school girls who are hoping to play both JV and 7/8 travel basketball will need to register for LYA house league by October 31st. Even if you are not able to play house league, you will be required to pay the house league registration fee along with the travel fee to be eligible to play travel basketball. All of the details have not been worked out yet for how this might work, but the first step is to register for house league if you are interested.
